How do I start the program on my device?
On Pocket PC devices, tap the Start button, tap Programs, and then tap Weight By Date near the bottom of the programs displayed.
On Palm devices, tap WBD Mobile near the bottom of the programs displayed. If you don't see it, the program might be in the "Unfiled" category, where new programs go that haven't been categorized. If this is the case, then tap the category list in the top-right corner of the screen and select either "All" or "Unfiled".

Will Weight-By-Date Mobile Work on an iPhone or a Blackberry?
Right now the answer is no, there is not an iPhone or Blackberry version of Weight-By-Date Mobile.
Could there be a Blackberry or iPhone version in future? Sure. We're waiting to see what shakes out in the mobile phone market between Windows Mobile, Palm, the iPhone, Blackberry, and Google's phone, which is on the horizon.
Once a clear leader emerges between iPhone/Blackberry/Google then we'll explore our possibilities of creating a version for that device. But for now, Weight-By-Date will run only on Windows Mobile and Palm devices.

How much memory do I need?
This depends on the type of device that you have. For Pocket PC devices, you'll need 5 MB of Storage Memory (for the actual program and data files) and 5 MB of Program Memory (used when the program is actually running).
For older Palm OS handhelds, you'll need 2.3 MB of free space. Newer Palm devices, such as the Tungsten T5, E2, and Treo 650, have Palm's new "Non-Volatile File System" (NVFS). For these devices you'll need 8.3 MB of free space, as data-heavy applications consume much more space on NVFS devices.

Can I run Weight-By-Date Mobile from a storage card?
For Palm devices, the answer is no, as Weight-By-Date Mobile will only run from main memory. For Pocket PC devices, the program may run from a storage card, however it will be quite slow as reading and writing to a card is much slower. In general, even though it's possible, we recommend that you avoid installing Weight-By-Date Mobile to a storage card on Pocket PC devices.

POCKET PC: I get a "Could not find CLSID for VBScript" error on my handheld.
This error applies only to some Pocket PC 2002 and Pocket PC 2003 handhelds. This means that your handheld is missing certain system files that are found on other handhelds. Sometimes this can happen when you uninstall old or unused applications. These files are collectively referred to as "eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime" files.

POCKET PC: Troubleshooting installation problems.
If you're having problems installing the software on either your handheld or your PC, try one or more of the suggestions below and then run the installation again.
- Perform a Soft Reset on your handheld and reinstall. A "soft reset" effectively reboots your handheld, just as you would your computer. Please refer to your owner's manual to learn how to do a "soft reset".
Please note that a "soft reset" is different from a "hard reset", where you basically wipe all memory from your handheld and start fresh.
- Be sure Weight-By-Date is not running on your handheld. This really only applies if you are reinstalling the program. Even though it may not be on your screen, Weight-By-Date could still be running in memory. To see if it is already running: tap Start -> Settings -> Memory -> Running Programs. If you see "Weight By Date" in the list, tap on it and then tap "Stop".
- Be sure your device is connected and the connection is active. To do this, check your ActiveSync icon (a green or gray circle) next to your computer's clock. If this icon is gray, then your connection is NOT active. In this case, you should reconnect your device and synchronize now before continuing.
- Download and install the latest version of ActiveSync from Microsoft's website using the links below.
Pocket PC 2002 or Pocket PC 2003 devices only:
Click here to download ActiveSync 3.8 from Microsoft
Windows Mobile 5 devices only:
Click here to download ActiveSync 4.x from Microsoft
- Make sure there is enough memory on your handheld.
You will need to have approximately 5 MB of storage memory and 5 MB of program memory available on your device. Use the "Memory" option under "Settings" on your handheld to verify that you have enough room for the program.
You can also install Weight-By-Date Mobile on an external memory card, but it is not recommended. We have found that synchronization is slower and the performance of the program in general is slower when installed on a card.

POCKET PC: Instead of starting, the program gives me errors that say it cannot be "loaded or launched".
This may occur when you have Weight-By-Date Pro installed on a storage card rather than main memory. The error message says: "This file does not appear to have been created by NS Basic/CE and cannot be launched". It doesn't happen all of the time, and when it does, it's because your Pocket PC cannot access the memory card quickly enough to fully load the program.
Currently, the only way to resolve this problem is to try removing and reinserting the memory card. If that doesn't work, try doing a "soft reset" on your device.

POCKET PC: I get a Zone Alarm message when I install the program from my PC, saying it's trying to access the internet.
The program is not really trying to access the internet. It's trying to talk to your Pocket PC on the "network" that is created when you plug your handheld into the cradle or USB cable. You need to allow this, or the PC and handheld versions of Weight-By-Date won't be able to communicate.
