How do I record my daily foods and meals?
You can do this in the Meals Journal. To add a food or meal for the selected day, click the "New" button from the Meals tab (it's at the top of the list area).
A new window will appear, where you can select from one of the 11,000 foods or your own custom foods and recipes. This window was actually designed to stay open, until you are finished adding all of the foods to your journal for a day (or for a particular session).
Here are step-by-step instructions for recording your foods:
- Click the Journal button along the left of the program window and go to the Meals/Snacks tab.
- Click the New button above the list area.
- Find the first food that you've eaten and click on it. A quick way to find foods is to click on the "Find Food by Name Search" tab. Type part of the food's name and click the "Search Now" button.
- Enter the number of servings in the field to the left of the food item. You can also use the Serving Selector by clicking the "..." button.
- Now click the green checkmark button to the left of the servings field. This food has just been added to your journal. If you're curious, just drag the window over a little bit and you'll see the new food item in your journal.
- Find the next food that you want to record and then repeat steps 4 and 5.
When you're all done, click the "Close" button to return to the Journal. You'll see that all of your food items have been recorded in one step.

I'm getting Error Number: 429 "ActiveX component can't create object" on the PC.
More than likely, some important system files were removed from your PC when you uninstalled something else. This is not all that uncommon. The solution is to download and install Weight-By-Date Pro again so the files can be restored.

What is the "Recent Foods" list and how can I take advantage of it?
Most people eat the same things frequently (especially when on a diet). Weight-By-Date Pro automatically keeps track of what you're eating. So, as you record food entries into the Journal, Weight-By-Date Pro puts these items in the "Recent Foods" list.
After just a few days of recording meals, this will be a big time-saver. Once you've used the program for a couple of weeks, you'll rarely have to search the food database.
How do you use the Recent Foods list? When you click the "New" button to make a new journal entry, click on the "Find Food by Group/List" tab (if it's not already selected). Then select "Recent Foods" from the "List" field right above the list of foods. You'll see every food that you've eaten for the last 14 days. Now you can select from this list instead of searching.

Will Weight-By-Date Mobile run on my PDA or Phone?
Weight-By-Date Mobile is compatible with just about every modern Palm OS and Pocket PC handheld available.
For Palm OS PDAs and Phones:
The biggest requirement is the version of Palm OS on the device -- it needs to be Palm OS 3.5 or greater. Since Palm OS 3.5 was released in 1999, there aren't many incompatible Palm devices in use today. If you have a phone, Weight-By-Date Mobile works fine on all "Treo" phones (even the newer Treos that run Windows Mobile 5) and any other phone running the Palm OS.
For Pocket PC and Windows Mobile PDAs:
Weight-By-Date Mobile is compatible with Pocket PC 2002/2003 and Windows Mobile 5. This accounts for just about all Pocket PC PDAs in use today.
For Pocket PC and Windows Mobile Phones:
If your phone has the full version of Windows Mobile or "Pocket PC Phone Edition" then things will work wonderfully. If you have a Pocket PC phone labeled specifically as a "SmartPhone", we're sorry to say that Weight-By-Date cannot run on it. Your SmartPhone may only mention that it comes with "Windows Mobile 5", omitting the fact that it is actually the "SmartPhone Edition," which is less friendly for third party applications like ours.
