What's New With Weight-By-Date Pro 2.8?

There are several new improvements to Weight-By-Date Pro with this update, which is a free download for all Weight-By-Date Pro customers!

Note: Weight-By-Date Pro 2.8 was available for new customers beginning on January 2, 2005.  If you've recently ordered the program you will already notice some of these improvements.

New Additions and Enhancements

Over 1,000 new foods.  We've added over 1,000 new foods based on our own research, including more low-carb foods from Atkins®, CarbSmart®, and others.  We've also added foods from additional restaurants and updated the food listings for existing restaurants in the program.

Over 80 new exercises and activities.  We've more than doubled the size of the Pre-Loaded exercise database, complete with calories burned for each exercise.

Add food items to your journal by gram weight.  If you weigh your foods, then this will be of help to you.  Now, in addition to adding foods to your journal by number of servings, you can also enter a gram weight for the food item.  Please note than some food items don't support gram weights (beverages, for example), but a large majority of the food items do.

Recipe Improvements.  Now you can print your recipes and add preparation instructions to them.  In addition, we've also enhanced the Recipes window so that it shows the nutrients for each ingredient.

Advanced calculation for calories from fat, carbs, and protein.  Until now, the calories from fat, carbs, and protein were estimated using only the 4-4-9 method (an industry standard).  In many cases, these numbers would not add up to the total calories in the food and the percentages would not add up to 100%.  We've improved upon this calculation to ensure that the calories from fat, carbs, and protein add up to the total calories in the food.

Net Carbs nutrient now includes one decimal place.  For those tracking the Net Carbs nutrient, you'll be happy to know that the Net Carbs value has been improved.  You will now have one decimal place, instead of a whole, rounded number.  This improves accuracy when entering multiple servings of a food, and also makes a big difference on the daily totals.

Quick access to recipes, food setup, and exercises.  Along the left of the program window, we've added buttons for some of the more common areas of the program.  You'll find buttons for searching the food database, recipes, exercise setup.

Improvements to printing the meals journal.  We've added water consumption to the meals journal printout.  We've also adjusted the printout to show more of the food description.

Ability to delete Pre-Loaded Foods. Now you can delete any of the pre-loaded foods in the program.  In addition, you'll have the ability to restore any foods that you've previously deleted (starting with this version of the program).

Copy multiple foods to the My Foods list.  Now you can select a range of foods to copy to the My Foods list, rather than just copying a single item.

Change to the water consumption field.  Now the up and down arrows increment/decrement the glasses of water by half of a glass instead of a whole glass.

Improved Body Measurements graphics.  We've updated the body graphics seen on the body measurements journal.

Adding exercises to the journal improved.  Now you can select multiple exercises without closing the window.  We've also changed the process of selecting exercises to more closely match the style of selecting foods.

Visual improvements to the Links screen.  We've made some slight changes to the Links area of the program to improve the way that links are highlighted as your mouse moves over them.

Updated Personal Rewards window.  We've updated the Personal Rewards window that pops up when you hit one of your intermediate goals.

Known Problems and Bugs Fixed. The following is a list of the problems that we have identified and fixed in the current release:

  • FIXED: Problem with Quick Journal colors when changing profiles.
  • FIXED: The "Totals for" caption in the journal totals would not show a date in some cases.
  • FIXED: The "Copy Foods" button returns you to the top of the list in Food Setup.
  • FIXED: Unable to delete foods when selecting from the Recent Foods list in Food Setup.
  • FIXED: Calories burned for selected exercise does not adjust if weight entry does not exist for a given day.
  • FIXED: Unable to save Nutrient Targets for custom nutrient values.
  • Several other minor problems and adjustments were also addressed.
