Common
Update Questions and Problems

When
I update, will I lose my current Weight-By-Date Pro data?
Absolutely not. In fact,
the program does an automatic backup of your data just in
case as the update is being applied. We have a lot of customers
and take careful measures to make sure your data is safe
during an update.
Do
I need to uninstall the current version of Weight-By-Date
Pro first?
Do not remove the current version
of Weight-By-Date Pro. Just select "Program Updates" from the File menu
in the program to install the update over your current installation.
I've
recently purchased a new computer (or have lost my previous
version of the software) and I need to reinstall Weight-By-Date
Pro.
No problem -- click
here to download and install the full version of Weight-By-Date
Pro
again.
If you also purchased Weight-By-Date Mobile, you will need
to download and install it again as well to get things synchronizing.
Mobile again.

I do not remember which e-mail address you have on file
for me. I'm getting a response
that you couldn't find my name or email address in your records.
You can see what
e-mail address we have on file for you in the Order Confirmation
e-mail that we sent you following your
original
order. If you no longer have this, click
here to update our records so that we have your current
e-mail address.
One
other problem that we see from time-to-time is someone
will enter their full name in the "Last Name" field. Obviously
the solution is to just enter your last name only where
it specifies "Last Name".
I'm
getting an "Error number: 429. ActiveX component
can 't create object." error.
It looks like you will need
to download and install the full version of Weight-By-Date
Pro
again. More than likely, some important system files were removed
from your PC when you uninstalled something else.
Just
click here to download the full installer, and then
run it to complete the installation. All of your previous
data should still be there when you are finished.
I
get a "Download error [404] Resource not found." error
when I try to update.
This ugly error message means
that there was something wrong with the e-mail address or
last name as you entered it into the Program Updates window.
Please check to ensure that the last name and e-mail address
that you are trying matches what we have on file for you. If
your e-mail address has changed, you can click
here to change your e-mail address in our system.

New Additions and Enhancements

A New Food Database Containing Over 40,000 Foods. The previous version of Weight-By-Date Pro had about 11,000 foods, based largely on research from the USDA and our own research for popular restaurants. We decided that this wasn't good enough, so we set out to do our own research and collect as much brand and restaurant information as we could. Our goal was to get as many brands as possible that you might see on your grocery store shelves, along with more restaurant data. Many manufacturers still don't publish their numbers, but this is a huge move in the right direction.
A Brand New Food Selection Window. With this many foods it was pretty obvious that we needed to make dramatic changes to the process of adding foods to your Journal. We usually save this type of change for the next major upgrade (version 3.0) but decided that it had to be done now. Hopefully you will enjoy using this new feature as much as we did building it.
Addition of Trans Fat. Prior to this update, we didn't really have much in the way of Trans Fat data, so you couldn't track this nutrient. But that's all changed now. To start tracking Trans Fat, select "Nutrient Selections" from the Settings menu at the top of the screen. Pick a nutrient spot (numbered 1 through 10) and select Trans Fat from the drop down box.
Generic Foods Have Been Separated from the Brand Foods. To put it simply, you no longer have to wade through dozens of restaurant items to find a generic (no-brand) food.
No More Food Groups. For years we've used the food groups defined by the USDA to categorize the generic foods, but we've never been completely happy with it. Dividing 6,000 generic food items among 24 food groups wasn't good enough and this was a great time to make the change. So we created our own system, using more specific categories like "Baking and Cooking Needs" and subcategories like "Flour", "Sweeteners", or "Frosting" (there are many more). This was harder to do than we thought it would be. Hopefully you find it helpful.
Advanced Search. The new food selection window also contains a redesigned search feature. You can search just generic, just brands and restaurants, and you can even pick a single brand or restaurant to search. You can also search for a combination of different nutrient combinations to find foods that meet the needs of your diet. Searching through 40,000 foods isn't as lightning-fast as 11,000 foods, so the program will need a few seconds to perform the search.
98 Additional Exercises and Activities. There are now over 230 exercises and activities in the program, and we've categorized them to make it (hopefully) easier for you to find what you're looking for. Now you'll know how many calories you burn while washing the car. We've added several additional Bicycling speeds as well.
A New Feature with Many Possible Uses. We decided to store the food description with each journal entry and make it possible for you to change them. This opens up a new level of flexibility for you. Give it a try and you'll soon see the possibilities. By the way, we made the same change to the exercise journal.
Known Problems and Bugs Fixed. Thanks to some wonderful Weight-By-Date users, we were able to identify and fix a few
minor problems in the program. Things like jumbled BMI charts, problems loading profiles, and copying and pasting journal entries. And we're still working on making the program more accessible to folks with special needs.
